Our 1st Anniversary!

One year ago today my husband, David, and I were married in Asheville, NC!!! What a year it has been! So full of growing moments, fun memories, creating traditions, and tons of laughs. I just wanted to take a minute to share some of our favorite images with you, and also do a little reminiscing myself.

The wedding day is such an event. We spend countless hours preparing, planning, convincing, stressing, questioning, and giggling over the details. Then, in a flash the day is over! But, thanks to wedding day images we can relive the event over and over, get a glimpse into details we do not remember or were not around to see go down, and pick new favorites!
It is our pleasure to serve our brides, and capture those very moments! And, we enjoy ourselves along the way. Thank YOU for walking through our day and down memory lane with us today! Happy Anniversary David! I love you!

Whitney & Allen are engaged! vol.2- Atlanta Engagment Session

I promised two blogs, and I was not lying! It has been such a pleasure going through all of our pictures from yesterday, there are so many good ones it is hard to choose. So, please take a peak at the slideshow at the end of this post for more images!

Thank you Whitney and Allen for your willingness to go outside your comfort zone, get a little dirty, and for providing such a lovely afternoon. We look forward to celebrating your wedding day, and documenting it in style! See you soon!

This was the first image of the day…what naturals!

It is so fun when an idea turns out better than you thought, and this railroad track provided some great depth of field that I was not expecting!

David had the idea for this shot, and we think it came out well.

Whitney & Allen are engaged! vol.1- Atlanta Engagment Session

We had the best afternoon with Whitney and Allen today!
I first met Whitney at a Starbucks a few months ago. Right off the bat I knew that her wedding would be a blast to photograph, and that they were going to be awesome people to get to know! I got to hear about all the fun details that she and her mom had planned already, and a bit about Allen too. We chatted a little about what their engagement session was going to look like, and I hope that the images we got today bring a smile to your face, because they certainly do mine! So much so that I have to do a double blog!!! David was joking around at the end of the session about how I was not going to be able to wait to get these images online. He knows me to well! So, tonight for your viewing pleasure, I present my favorites from David’s point of view! I LOVE the way that he captured these images! They really highlight some of our day. Enjoy! And, check back soon for vol. 2!

Whitney’s eyes are SO beautiful!

Refining our craft

What do we do in our spare time here at ABJ Photography?

Well, we are constantly education ourselves! We are always learning, growing, refining, and trying to make ourselves better for our clients. It does not matter the genre: Internet, blog, Photoshop, marketing, equipment, location design. David and I can be found investing ourselves in anything to better our brand. Why? You may ask…it is simple, we want to do the best we can for our brides and families.

Today I was testing new tools on Photoshop, the program that we use to refine our images. We fully believe that Photoshop does not “make” the image, but the client along with our education, equipment, and experience should make the images. But, Photoshop has so much depth and creative capabilities it would be hard to pass up using the program.

I really like the images below. It is a brushstroke tool, to give the image an almost painted look. Not to mention, my greatest model of all times….Tess, our sweet black lab. She has been on hand to test new equipment and locations since our business opened, and years before. She is one of the great loves of my life! Enjoy!

Wilmington {family photographer}

Almost nine years ago I walked into a room full of freshman to see about becoming a Young Life leader. I knew a few people, enough to feel confident going there alone. But, I did not know a lot of people in that room…kinda intimidating. Luckily, out of that group I gained a wealth of friendships. One of those ladies in the room was Stephanie, and over the next few years we became really close. I cannot believe that nine years have gone by so quickly! She has been married a few years now, and when I heard a year ago {at my wedding} that she was expecting a baby I knew that little one was sure to be blessed with an amazing mom and dad!

We had a chance to reconnect with Stephanie, Andrew, and their new baby Oliver just last weekend. What a sweet little boy! He is so strong, and good looking. It was so fun to lock eyes with him during our session on the beach. It is surreal to think that even something as simple as a windy beach day is so new and so fresh to him. Something he has never really experienced, but will totally be such a part of his sweet life on the coast of North Carolina. We loved every minute of the shoot, and hope that you enjoy the pictures. I am sure that you will be able to feel the love radiating out of each image, as we do!Thank you OT for your inquisitive stare, and beautiful blue eyes. Thank you Stephanie and Andrew for being so amazing, and loving us so well! <><
