Hugh & Tanya are Married : Atlanta Wedding Photographers

I first met Tanya and Hugh last year during the rainy season we had….remember those days of constant rain?  They were brave enough to meet me, and by the end of our time together we were making plans for their engagement session- certain that David and I would be able to share their wedding day with them.  It is always so fun to meet new people and completely click in that first meeting!  We followed up our time together a little while later in Marietta, GA as we shared an awesome afternoon together for their E:Session.

The anticipation for this wedding has been great, and we were so happy a few weeks ago to celebrate Hugh and Tanya’s wedding day!  I met the ladies at Tanya’s home and David met the guys at the Emory Conference Center Hotel that morning.  It was so fun riding over to Callanwolde Fine Art Center with the ladies in their stretch Hummer limo!  Everyone was so relaxed, and Tanya totally set the tone for the day…very cool, calm, and collected!  She seriously reminded me of a Princess.  Maybe it was the beautiful gown, how light on her feet she was, or the amazing glow that she had all day…simply amazing.  They celebrated with family and friends well into the night, and we were so thankful to go on this journey with them!

Venue: Callanwolde Fine Arts Center

Cake: Traditional Lithuanian Cake

Dress: Brides By Demetrios

Hair & Makeup : Formal Faces

Flowers: A Pretty Petal

Catering: Affairs to Remember (best vendor meal ever!)

Hugh and Tanya were so sweet to share their wedding day with one of the groomsman, recognizing his birthday more than once in celebration.  I thought this moment was so sweet- just after his birthday wishes were announced.

Tanya was the queen of the dance floor all night!  I loved how she hardly missed a song, and gave the DJ a run for his money!  She also did something I have never seen before with her bouquet- writing well wishes and fortunes on each small bunch of flowers.  So when she released them to ALL the female guests (not just single ones) many of them went home with small bouquets and good fortune!

We also thought this interaction with Hugh’s mom was hilarious!

Oh my goodness y’all we had a blast with you on your wedding day!  We wish you a lifetime of happiness!  Thank you for trusting us with your wedding day photos, and we hope to stay in touch!

Smith Family :: Topsail Beach, NC Family Photographer

Over the weekend David and I snuck home to Wilmington to see my parents and brother, and also to get some beach time in with them.  This was kinda a secret trip.  I hate to come home in such short spurts and not be able to see old friends, or make the usual rounds.  Long distance trips with only a few short days to visit do not make for quality time with valued friends or family (this is my attempt to say sorry to those we did not get a chance to see but who love us still and read this blog).  I think this is something I am learning as I grow up…not to over extend myself as much.  We did, however, have a fun afternoon with my best friend from high school and her family Saturday.  It was the kind of day that just worked out perfectly: weather, schedule on all accounts, etc.  So, David and I drove north to Topsail Beach for some Mexican food and photos with our friends.

I am really excited to take pictures for friends that are just like family.  I love taking part in those memories, and the comfort of being with true friends.  I really hope that they, along with their families, enjoy this sneak peak of our session together!  I did not get to capture on camera how awesome it was to be with them, or how much we miss them and wish they would move to Atlanta…but I will keep those feelings stored up in my heart.  We love you guys!

Fridays LIVE!

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,

How does your garden grow?

With silver bells, and cockle shells,

And pretty maids all in a row.

Our sweet treat of the summer has been our little garden.  With Banana peppers going crazy, one red pepper on the way, a few jalapenos, many cucumber blooms, some squash and zucchini actions happening,  and the watermelon and broccoli still keeping us guessing…we are having a blast watching the progress and learning as we go!  We are ready to make a salad, or salsa, whatever it takes to take advantage of this growth.  Now… if that topsy tervy would give me some tomatoes we would be in business!

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all!  May you feel blessed and safe due to the courageous actions by those who fight and have fought for our freedoms.  May we not take that for granted and serve them well here at home.  <><

Chris & Rachel :: A Rehearsal

A few weeks ago David and I had the chance to escape ATL for a few days and attend a wedding down in Florida…yes, I did say Attend!  We made it a little vacation for us and soaked up lots of fun in the sun.  One of the best parts of the long weekend was celebrating with David’s co-worker Chris and his now wife Rachel!  We were able to attend the rehearsal dinner as well as the wedding.  Although we made a pact to not take photos at the wedding, we could not, however, pass up the rehearsal dinner at a place called Roscoe’s Fantasy Farm.  I mean, come-on, you would take along a camera too!  Here is a sneak peak of the night…

This place was a huge surprise!  There were exotic birds, a monkey, farm animals, and old cars…lots of random decor, and a wild collection of trinkets.

Family and friends came from all over to eat, drink, and be merry.  There was good food, good drinks, and lots of GREEK DANCING! haha!

Below Rachel cheers on her dad as Chris teaches him the basic Greek Dancing steps…

The party lasted through the night, as did the fun all weekend long.  And, we cannot thank Chris and Rachel enough for getting married in FL!

For those of you getting married in the Atlanta Metro area in 2011 and beyond we are happy to announce Rehearsal dinner coverage!  We are going to offer up to 4 hours to coverage, whether you are at the fantasy farm or having an intimate dinner with loved ones, we would love to save you the hassle and photograph your event.  Enquire for more details here: alana@abjphoto.com
